Even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while, my grandfather used to say. I think he meant that every now and then, you just get real lucky: in life, in love or even in lust. I had never particularly liked Las Vegas. My wife, Martha, and I were there only because we had wanted to attend the Lifestyles convention. Lifestyles is a national organization for couples into swinging, and Martha and I have been involved in it for nearly twenty years. We had come to the convention looking for adventure, because things were getting a bit stale back in Ohio. At home, we mostly met other couples through local alternative newspapers and swingers' clubs, and while they were all nice and fairly sensual people, lately the experiences weren't all that exciting for us. When we arrived at their suite, Brian poured a round of drinks and everyone arranged themselves around the coffee table in the living room area. Martha and Brian settled in on the couch, while Kristi and I sat on the opposite side of the table on some big floor cushions. After several minutes of small talk absolutely nothing was happening, and my heart began to sink. I excused myself and went to the bathroom, wondering why I ever thought these people would be different than the others.
